i am absolutely ready to be proven wrong, someone just has to do it. i already found the source where i learned that wire cutting is needed, but that was from a while ago. so could be that things have changed now

Beat-sonic just returned my call and here is the summary of the kit:

1 - There are 2 kits, NA and NVK. The difference is that the NA kit has a programmable timer (2, 3, and 5 mins) and the Nav will revert back to normal automatically. The NVK is manual and you basically flip a switch to enable the override and then switch it back to go back to normal. Both kits are fully plug n play, however, the NA kit requires that you tap a ACC power source to power the LED. You can either use the cigarette lighter for power or the fuse box. The NVK kit does not require any external power source.

2- The kit that also plays DVD has a different part number (didn't ask the PN because I don't care for that functionality).

3- Kit is made in Japan

4- They don't have a working demo, but people are welcome to swing by their warehouse to check out the kits. The warehouse is located in La Mirada (socal).

5- They have other products not listed on their US website, but they can get them if anyone is interested

Considering that the NVK is only 95 bucks I would say this kit is looking to be a steal compared to the PS one (as long as it works as advertised).

I think there are 3. The third one allows DVD playback. I just checked the website again and seems that the NVK one is now $115 . I'm sure it was $95 before.

You're right. They just went up from 115 and 95 to 130 and 115. I wonder if its because of the interest from this thread.

looking at their website i am pretty confused. seems like there are 3 kits. one na and one nvk, both for navigation. and then the 3rd one for dvd. so does that mean you need 2 kits to do both features? or there is a kit that does both? from your other post (info from them) that sounds like the case. if so, i wonder what's the price of that unit

wow looks like these went up on eBay. I thought they were $200 or less before. Im not sure I would pay what they are asking for this on eBay now. Maybe check the classified section to see if anyone is selling. The ISx50 may use the same vs? Rominl probably can confirm this.

Before there was a guy in the US who bought these from Japan in bulk at a low price, and would sell them in the US with cheap local shipping and a $200 price point.

That guy went away, maybe under pressure from PS enforcing their distribution contract, and now this guy is a Japanese vendor basically honing in on the arbitrage opportunity.

If you buy off one of these ebay vendors you will need an English manual since the kit doesn't come with one. I have one if anyone needs it.

Beat-sonic replied with the pricing info and apparently the $95 was a price mistake and $115 is the actual price. They are discontinuing the NA03 kit although they still have inventory left. They have a facebook page and seems that he is the actual distributor for beat-sonic...
