Default Burned out headlight epidemic?

I've noticed for a while now many 3GS's are running around out there with burned out headlights. Last week, I saw three in one day. Got me thinking what's going on, has there been a known problem with Lexus xenons? Did a "headlight" search and nothing came up...

Well yes, its just the bulbs that need replacement. I guees because there are D4S they last way less then the D2S. I had mine replaced at 50K miles. Other notice these problems earlier.

So it's just a basic bulb that triggers the xenon? In other words, not an expensive fix when it goes out? I also wonder if they use the same on the IS's. Not sure what the "D"s are...

I'm pretty sure it was the driver's side too.

This is really ridiculous. My passenger side lights "burnt out". Actually when I turn on the headlights, the light stays on for about a second, then turns off. Other days, the light will operate as normal, but the passenger side headlight will shut off after 5mins or so..What's going on here? I don't think it's "burnt out" in the true sense since it will turn on, but it just won't stay on!

I just hit around 52k and am past my warranty! I thought these things were suppose to last for many many years!! I hear the bulbs are a pretty penny too!

I had my IS350 in last week for that very issue. It's by no means isolated to the GS. They apparently do not cover light bulbs under warranty; however, they did for ours just because they claimed they could not reproduce the issue in the shop so they replaced the bulbs under goodwill for us. Take it in ASAP and talk to them, luckily the headlights on our IS decided to go out at 46,000 miles rather than waiting until after the warranty was up. I just hope they don't go out again in another 40,000 miles.

The lights in my ES350 went out at 34k miles and it was covered under warranty. Not related to the GS I would say if the lights go out again I will upgrade to 6k.

I've been experiencing this problem this past week with a pair of 6k garax bulbs that have been in for a little bit less than a year. When I first installed the garax bulbs I had my passenger bulb work intermediate. I had the bulb replaced from the seller, did the same thing. I then swapped the bulbs from passenger to driver and vice versa. Worked since this past week. Another odd thing is the seller I bought the bulbs from said nothing was wrong with the one i sent back. It's been so damn cold and snowy in Chicago ive bleen slacking on putting the own bulbs back in. I will on wednesday, I hope i dont find out I have a bad ballast.

I dont know if I would call it an epidemic but it seems more common than normal but usually seems like its the car with the bulbs that have been changed out to something aftermarket. Leave the lights stock.

god this sort of thing should be stickied as much as its talked about

for the people having problems, try swapping the bulbs to the opposite side and see if the problem still exist. this is one way to check to see if its the bulbs.
