No it's plug and play. Did you put it in the wrong way? Batteries are directional.

You sure you put the battery in the correct way, I know it sounds stupid but maybe you put it in wrong, It wouldn't make sense that the key would need to be re-programed

Edit : Ha Batman you beat me to the punch!

yea im pretty sure you have it in backwards. once you put the new battery in, it should work just fine. flip it over and give it a shot

lol simple things should always be checked first but no, i put it in the correct way. i will take it out and re-seat it however to make sure that isnt the issue. the car DOES start if i put the key fob close enough to the start button so it does seem battery related. i will re-seat it

If the car starts by placing the fob close to the button, then this means there is a power shortage. Maybe its a duff battery.

BTW I often find that if I put my cellphone and my key in the same trouser pocket, the cellphone interference will dramatically reduce the range of the key. So I always keep them in separate pockets.

I ordered a pack of energizer batteries from eBay to replace, first one I tried didn't work at all. Tried another one, and it was fine. Stupid eBay.

or maybe you keep the remote in close proximity to the car, and it's transmitting signals and draining the battery faster.

that's too fast, maybe you put several different keys together causing interference? i think on avg it's about every 3 yrs
