What I normally do is:

1. Jump in the car and start it up
2. Roll down the driver side window
3. Exit the car making sure the key fob is in your pocket
4. With the driver door closed, reach inside the car and hit the door lock button and then pull the window up automatically
5. Remove hand quickly as window rolls up.
6. Walk inside the house or back to work.
7. Use the key from the fob to unlock your door.
8. Drive away!!

Hope this helps.. I do it every morning...

^ you have to use the metal key to unlock too? Unlock button on the remote won't unlock the door?

Yea use the metal key. The remote wont work when the car is started..
