Vaistech SL2i cutting in and out
Hello CL,
Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with their Vaistech SL2i install. Lately it's been cutting in and out such that the audio system doesn't even detect the CD changer (SL2i). Sometimes when I hit a bump in the road or if I hit where I think the device is (underneath the carpet on the driver's side of the centre console) it'll cut out/cut back in.
Is it possible that it's a loose connection somewhere? I remember I had this problem in the past and tried to tape the cables onto the device to minimize the movement of the cables in the sockets on the device. Or could it be something else causing this?
If anyone had this problem as well, what did you do to fix it?
I thought I read on CL other people having this problem but a search didn't turn up anything.
Thanks all!

Guys that sounds like a loose connection, or at worse something inside the box is loose. Try to tape up all the connections and secure the box unit good so there is no movement. See if the problem continues.

Sounds like a connection issue. This would explain the variance and the loss when you go over bumps. I am getting one installed in my LS in the next few months. Who did your install??

there was a car i worked on (i didn't install the sl2i-up) but had the on and off problem. ended up being the connection was loose. one thing to check is the harness going into the head unit, it's pretty tight and some people didn't push it in far enough.
i am not say it can't be a defect, but likely a loose connection, especially if it goes out when you hit a bump

Thanks for the tips. I will double-check the connections when I get around to it (it is cold up here and I don't have a heated/well-lit garage). I did the install myself and I am fairly certain I plugged everything in, but again, I will double-check those connections. (My initial suspicion is the connection on the box itself as hitting it with my fist will sometimes make it work again.)
