Default Mounted Samusng Captivate

Hello, So I didnt really like the idea of keeping my phone in my cup holder, but i also didnt want to attach a suction cup to my windshield. So i thought of mounting the desktop dock for the phone. This is what ive come up with so far, still a work in progress still need to run the wires so that it also charges my phone as well as the aux input line. Plan to lower it as much as I can, and need to lean it back some. What you guys think?

I took the dock apart and drilled 2 holes through the bottom. I put screws through the dock and then through the little metal piece in the ashtray (which i didnt use anyways). Worst case scenario all i loose is that metal piece which i had already taken out anyway.

( the dock hasnt fully been put back together yet)

will add more pics as i finish...

Lowered it with by using shorter screws, and to lean it back just ended up bending the screws...Instead of trying to hide the charging wire just used the outlet next to the dock for now.

I need do something like this problem though is I have a BB (work) and Droid (personal) :/ I hate putting them in my cup holder or in the storage compartment which is a pain to access with the right hand while driving. I wish the thing open up to the side like my escalade did. The way it is now my elbow hits the armrest when its open and I have to do some weird chicken wing maneuver to get in there while driving.

i know exactly what you mean, i used to always only use my ipod to play music and it got annoying for that very reason...

another idea i had was somehow mount a powermat horizontally probably right infront of the seat where the floor carpet meats ends (red line in pic), would need to make some sort of a short "wall" around it so phones dont fall off...also this would only help if powermat (or other brands) make products for your phone. Then again you only need the powermat if you want your phone to charge.

Decided not to go that route since they dont have a product for the Captivate.
