Yeah, you should expect to replace your original battery on a 2006 GS. These cars are pretty hard on batteries, as everything is power. Everytime you open the door, 15 lights come on lol. I just replaced mine after needing a couple jumpstarts and all is well again.

And I even finally normalized my windows and moonroof heh.

I am sorry to admit that would probably be my dream machine, so that I don't get annoyed while driving. But I would never actually buy one. I am old, but not that old. Plus the first gen LS looks like an '81 Corona pumped up to 56PSi.

just make sure you get a well maintained car, thats the most important IMO. the only reason I picked up my 06 GS430 was because I was able to see all the service records. previous owner brought his car in every 5k miles like clockwork, and spent over 20k in servicing the car.

And the GS 430 even weighs more!

and honestly I dont think I've ever even done 20-21 city. Really its more like 18, and the more stop/go I do the lower it plummets.
I wouldn't sweat it. Not only each person drives differently, it also heavily depends on your type of commute. For example, I am an early bird, so there's hardly any traffic when I am on the road, plus most of my commute is on the freeway where I am on the 8th gear. On the weekends, we travel on city roads with many lights, and the MPG just plummets. You're in CA, so I am sure you're constantly in bumper-to-bumper traffic. As a result, your MPG will greatly suffer.

Yeah, comparing MPG ratings with other people almost never makes sense at all. Of course you're going to get better fuel economy with a GS300 over a GS350 or a GS460 if it's the same person, driving it the same way, in the same conditions.

If you're like me, living in a downtown urban area, rarely drive on the highway (and when you do it's always a traffic jam)... it's almost better to turn that display off and think happy thoughts.

I got nearly TWICE the MPG on a long obstacle free highway road trip outside of the city as I normally get in my day to day driving. If you're really concerned about your car's MPG, leave for the middle of nowhere and fill the tank, then continue driving further out into the middle of nowhere and put your cruise control on at slightly under the speed limit. After some time, you'll be truly amazed at how efficient your car can be. :P
