One more question... does this car have a timing belt or chain?

rattles are largely temp dependent but there are many posts on here about solving them.

VAIS technologies makes an iPod adapter that will allow you to treat playlists as discs in a 99CD changer. Metadata shows on the display and the steering wheel ocntrols work to change tracks and "discs".

Timing belt. Service due @ 90k intervals.

Yep, timing belt... uses engine from 2GS GS430 so you can get a better idea about maintenance and mechanical problems from the guys on the 2GS forum.

my only concern about the 430 is it uses a kind of old tech v8. That engine is what, a 10 year old design now? I feel like the V6 350 is better from both an efficiency/performance tradeoff. It's just as fast, and the real world mileage is a lot better.

definitely older tech, but Lexus seems to be going the wrong direction in terms of reliability on their newer engine designs. The 1UZ and 2JZ that debuted in the first gen Lexus are legendary and sadly, I don't see that being the case for the newer tech.

^ old tech but super reliable. Despite a few things in the car that isn't so reliable but at least U know the engine won't let U down.

And yes, the new one seen too many recalls already.

At least they are recalling it.. some manufacturers would just treat as a fix on failure basis. I'd rather not wait until I'm stuck with a tow bill for Lexus to solve my issues.

Invest in an extended warranty.. factor it into your loan if you have to but if even the headlights go out on you, the warranty will have practically paid for itself.

Looking back, I would have gotten a 350 instead. 07+ has better navi, shark fin, better gas mileage. But...when people ask what kind of power I run, I say, Lexus V8 power, woo woo!

My rule of thumb the more fix, the worst it could get. Here is the latest recall story I've seen on here https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...o-so-well.html . Best if the car have no problem at all and that's what a GS430 is, no problems.
