Default Hello From New GS 350 Owner

New to me, anyway. It's a 2008, Verdigris Mica, tan interior with nav and backup camera. 31k miles and was traded in on a new Mercedes here in Raleigh. It is immaculate.

Simply put this car is superb. If anyone has any advice about this model, I would very much appreciate your insight. Thanks.

Thanks. I thought the color was kind of rare. It's especially nice with the tan interior and wood accents, though I am not sure of the wood. It's like the nice elements of BMW mixed with Jaguar's, and with modern reliable technology.

No, RWD. I read numerous reports of problems with the AWD models and I just happened to fall in love with this particular car. AWD isn't really a plus down here; if it snows you just stay home.

Had never owned a Lexus in the past (other than an RX 300 primarily driven by a now ex-spouse) but was tired of European (and Nissan!) unreliability. I'd always thought of Lexus as plushbottom wagons, though that increasingly describes me at 43.

I test drove the IS 350 thinking I would love it, but the thing was claustrophobically small. Then I discovered the GS, shortly afterwards stumbling across the verdigris mica one in the used row at the local Mercedes place.

I do have a question for you guys if you don't mind: What about the Lexus extended warranty. It looks like I can extend the new car bumper to bumper to 2015 or 100k for about 2400 bucks, which presumably (?) can be negotiated a bit. I am strongly leaning that way but would appreciate anyone's thoughts. Thanks.

Check with Jerry Johnson (contact info below) - lots of people have had a great experience with buying extended warranty through him at discounted rates. I for one just purchased the 8 yr / 100k extended warranty for a GS350 that I just picked up.

I like how everybody out there seems to think the AWD has problems. I haven't heard of the AWD specific systems failing on a single 3GS.

I have no idea whether the claim is accurate. I just read a lot of reports of problems with the AWDs. I will admit that but for those reports I might have considered one, despite the limited use for it here, because I do like AWD cars (I had an A4 quattro that was great). But in this case as I said I just came across the specific car.
