i live in chicago too , tell me about the snow arghhhh, but IMO , i have decided to go with springs for now and a staggered setup , then go to coilovers later so i can adjust the height according to the season , i used to drive a mazda rx8 which wasnt smooth at all, so i think i dont mind sacrificing a little comfort for the looks, after all the only two people i carry are my wife and daughter , am sure they can live with it

I do appreciate all of the feedback so far. I went into some of the other threads, specifically "Suspension" and threads related to it, and it seems to me that there are quite a bit of issues by lowering your car (shakes, wobbles, etc.) whether while idling or getting up to interstate speeds 65-75mph. It also seems that you can run into some issues by simply increasing the size of your wheels.

Is it safe to say that the only reason why you would do these types of modifications is by simply making your GS look better and not for function whatsoever? I am not saying that this is wrong whatsoever if it's so...I'm just wanting to make sure what I'm getting into before I do it. Just trying to manage my expectations.

Lowering the car and putting wider rims and tires will make the car handle and corner better as for the awd wobbles I have no idea what those are like cause I have a rwd. This is the first car I have ever done any suspension mods to and I absolutely love the way my car looks lowered, with and aggressive stance.

its mainly for looks but lowering does help handling and cornering.
