You're right on the MP3's. I should have been more clear. Most of the music that I burn to DVD-a's are from FLAC or PCM WAV files that retain the 5.1 structure. There are a couple of utilities out there that can do the job, but the high end stuff still requires purchase of some pretty expensive software. I've got a couple of utilities for converting files from one format to another, but the old addage applies "Garbage in = Garbage out"

i dont care too much about sound quality, but I would like to convert my mp3 library to DVD-a. Will the 2006 GS430 ML play such format simply converting mp3 to dvd-a from nero?

Again, I don't get what you hope to achieve by doing that other than making the music library more of a pain in the rear to use in the car?

well the 06 doesnt play mp3, plus i just want more music in my car. hoping to achieve this by using DVD
