Default Advice on buying a 07 GS350

I am considering buying a 07 GS350 in the next week or two and need some advice. I have been reading reviews about problems with the GS350 such as dashboard noise, break problems, and a few other problems. Have any of you had these problems, and if so, is it as bad as people are making it out to be?

There really are not any major problems with the GS 350 its a well built car, sometimes in the cold you will hear the creaking sounds but not all cars have it. The other thing is the brake problems are just a slight squeak sound it really isn't that bad and it is usually the brakes are not broken in well enough. The only thing you need to make sure is that the Valve spring recall has been peformed.

I've had the rattles and the brakes fixed by Lexus under TSIBs. Mine is a CPO though. The dash is a little annoying but the brakes can be avoided with the proper pads/rotors/shims. To be honest, the only thing about mine is that I lowered an AWD and now it vibrates. It's a great car!

Thanks for the input. I will definitely check to make sure the Valve spring recall has been performed.

I bought my 07 AWD in October and have no regrets. I did have the dealer fix the dash noises and its been solid since.

Have my 07 GS350 AWD for 2 years now. Great car, have had some issues in regards to dashboard creaks (Dealer fixed on 3rd try with new dash pad) issue with the Valve spring (Recall) Brakes (Excessive brake dust) and now have to take it back in for the latest recall.

Besides these issues I have been very happy with the car. There's no doubt the overall build quality is nowhere where it used to be but it's no knock on the GS. Compared to other cars in the same class, its an excellent car. The AWD has been very handy this winter with all the driving I have done from Toronto back to Jersey. One thing I would recommend is getting an extended warranty thru Lexus, there's a few guys that sell factory warranty here.

Best of luck

Hey msgs350. What springs did you use to lower your AWD and are you riding on aftermarket wheels? I'm thinking about lowering mine w/ the nf210's on stock wheels and I just wanted to see if I'm going to experience the wobbles/rattles/vibrations with it being lowered on stock rims. Thanks!

If the one I decide to buy has the dash creaks, how much does the dealer typically charge to fix?

I have had nagging problems with my '07 GS350 (bought new). The driver's side mirror's motor had to be replaced 3x, the ventilation for the HVAC unit has neeed attention 2x (the HVAC unit itself hasn't been replaced), passenger's side window motor needed to be replaced (that window might be used three times/year).

I had the dash/window noise but that was an easy fix under warranty. In all, I've had the car services under warranty 6-7 times during the past 3 1/2 years (excluding TSBs). All these warranty repairs have added up to over $4,200 (the HVAC problems alone cost $1,200). I'll buy the extended warranty before my 4 yr warranty expires (BTW, I have 26,000 miles on the car).

Summary: I like the car but wouldn't own it out of warranty.
