trade in value or dealer resale value

I bought my 07gs 350 from carmax for 27,500 about 9 months ago, it was still under lexus warranty so I didn't really care if anything was wrong with it, even though nothing was wrong.
they gave me $1000 more on my trade in, 05 TL, versus the lexus dealerships, and their selling price was 5-7k less than the lexus dealerships..of course it's not CPO so that's part of the price difference.

i used AutoTrader last week after I saw their ad
Got a $17,124 trade-in offer for my vanilla GS300 w/45100 miles
naturally, that was followed by a flood of dealers calling me for days, even though I specifically said email was my preferred method of contact. I think it's just a lead-gen thing where probably dealers pay AutoTrader to get you as a potential customer
Today I ran it trough BlackBook, which is what many dealers use, gave me a maximum of $18,500 trade-in value.
I also looked up OVE and Manheim, similar car to mine have a predicted price of around $20-22k. Some are listed on OVE at around $21-24k many have more than 50k miles.
In December my dealer offered $17,800 told me how awesome offer that was. Then I walked around the lot and they had identical car with 5k miles less, same color and options as mine, with a $29,900 sticker certified pre-owned! Needless to say we left. Of course I get that a dealer won't offer you more for the car than what they can buy at an auction but that was a $12,000 difference I just couldn't ignore

My car is currently sitting on the lot at Leith Mercedes Benz in Raleigh NC. This is where I traded it in. I could not copy the link to this page to show everyone. They are asking $27,754. You're right, all the did was wash it up and post a sale price. I bet you can get it for around $26k OTD
