Default Pay to repair it or buy a new one?

Mom backed up into a yellow pole a while back. I looked around lexus swell parts at the time and found the cost of an unpainted bumper for $350 or $500(I can't remember). I can't seem to find the part # and price on their website anymore. I also saw in the classified section that someone was lucky enough to get a 2008 OEM bumper for $150.

What do you guys think? Buy a new one and pay to get it repainted, pay to get it fixed and repainted, or wait around and try to find an OEM matador red rear bumper?

Thanks!

if you're gonna get a new bumper, might as well buy the 2008+ bumper. It's cheaper than the 2007 version.

$319 vs $342.

you're gonna have to repaint that anyway.
just gotta make sure you get the right bumper. with or without the sensors. Sometimes these parts websites are hard to decipher, and you end up getting the wrong part. Best to call the dealer who owns the website before finalizing any order.

that doesn't look too bad. you can save money and probably buff that out, and the damage won't be too noticeable.

That should be able to be repaired pretty easily as I had it done on an Acura front bumper that had similar damage from someone backing into it.

A good body shop can definitely repair that sleeve

She should have bought the sensor feature.

Good thing your dad isn't Ken300, he would have exploded by now!

P.S. I always shed a small tear when I see nice cars that have nasty dealership plate frames left on them. Taking those frames off is the first thing I do.

If it's punctured, it's hard to fix. Even if it's fixed, it will crack again later on. I'd go for a new one or wait for a used one in red to come along.

Hey thanks for the link to the bumper. Swell parts didn't really have a link for a bumPer anymore.

Hey binary, ya I would get new plates but that isn't really a big deal right now. I'm all stock! I work for the family business so mods to the car isn't the first thing I get paid for. I have to make on the side if I want to do anything to my car. Maybe when I get a kit, rims, and coil overs I'll get a nice "illest" plate!

@100degrees ya it's pretty much a hole..I assumed since people get thier front license plate frame holes filled in, this would be the same. This actually looks worst in person, at least to me. It's even noticeable from a far! Right now there is no yellow paint left from whatever she hit, but it's still really noticeable.

Thanks for everyones opinion.

I'd wait for one to show up on Ebay or just buy another one and get it painted!

In the far future I want to get the car vinyl wrapped. So I just want things to look smooth no bumps or dents..in my case no holes!

or you can just sell your rear bumper to him, since you're parting your car out.

you can sell a car without a rear bumper, right?

Are you serious? You can't buff out a hole in the plastic cover. I'd say: replace, repaint.
