Did I make a mistake doing my brake job?

Did I make a mistake doing my brake job?
so i followed the DIY and i put anti squeal grease on the back of the pads which contact the caliper and piston. i don't have a shim kit. did i just screw something up? should i wipe it off asap, buy a shim kit and do it all over again?

u should be fine without'em, but no reason to apply the anti-squeal lube if you didn't use a shim kit, at least this is what i think since the whole purpose is to minimize vibration. if u are starting get mad squeals or something, try to put the shims and the lube next time n see if it makes a difference.

For my piece of mind, I would go back and put a shim kit in, either with a new set if your new pads did came with it, or if you can reuse the old shims from the old pads. The shims are to get rid off metal to metal contacts between the back of the pad and the caliber/piston. This is to prevent squeakings.

haha sorry guys, i'll try to be more clear.
when i changed the pads, the old ones didn't have a shim kit on them. what i'm worried about is if the anti-squeal lube should not be touching any part of the piston. i read on a honda accord forum that this might cause the lube to seep into the piston and eventually get into the brake fluid, causing it to be contaminated or eat away the brake line lining. i've been driving with my new pads and rotors for about 450 miles now with no squealing at all though.
thanks everyone for the quick replies! i love how CL members are always willing to help each other out.

If it's not squealing dont worry about it. The anti squeal won't seep into the piston or get into your brake lines.

I recently installed new front brake pads and rotors on my GS with a new shim kit and fitment kit. At first i did not put anti squeal lube between the shim kits and after putting the brakes back on it squealed pretty loud going straight and making turns. Today i just took off the brakes again to put in lube between the shim kits as directed in this DIY thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...g-caliper.html
and the squealing is minimalized by quite a bit, but there is still slight squealing (enough to annoy you). I only put lube between the shim kit, should i also be putting lube between where the shim touches the brake pads and lube between the shim and where the piston is? Please help thanks guys!
