Default Life of Rotors?

Got new rotors and front pads last year at 68k. Done by my local Toyota dealer as the nearest Lexus dealer is 150 miles away. Today, was told by same dealer that front rotors where down to 3mm and I needed new ones because they couldn't be turned. I expressed my concern that they were only 30k miles old and he said that all I should get out of them in "that type of car"! I politely explained that the first set got 68k miles on them! Anyone have any thoughts on how long rotors should last?

Haven't even changed the front pads since the rotors were done.

Okay, called the service rep back and he had his tech, not the oil change guy, recheck the front and said that they were fine, pads at 5mm and rotors looked good! So i looks like it is just a rear brake job. 200 bucks.

Just to clarify, I don't drive like your granny!

And the front pads had been switched with the recall at around 20k and I had prob pushed them too far at 68k.
