Factory Warranty runs out in 2 weeks - What issues should I check for?
Hi Gang,
I purchased an 07 GS350 with 32,000 miles on it last weekend. The factory warranty runs out in about 2 weeks. I'd like to make sure that I get anything take care of under the warranty.
Are there any common issues that I ought to be looking for?
The only thing I have noticed is that when I am going very slow <5mph, and I gently apply the brakes, I am getting a light cyclical rubbing noise from the front right wheel. It's like something is rubbing every time the wheel goes around. I thought it might be a build up of rust on the rotor due to the car sitting on a lot for a while, but I would think if that was it, it would have gone away with the ~500 miles I've put on it. I would assume this is not a common problem, but I'd appreciate suggestions.
I would also be interested in input on extending the warranty. I'm kind of thinking that I bought the Lexus because it should be very low maintenance (unlike the Audi I came from)...so why extend the warranty?
Thanks,
Steve

The first thing is if you have any rattles from the dash or within the car. The next thing is to get the sunroof checked for rattles as well as some have complained about that, I was told that once the warranty runs out you have to pay for those to be fixed. I would also check to see of the Valve spring recall has been done. Also you should see if your b-pillar is gouged or screwed up, if so then you can get that replaced under the TSIB, and thats pretty much all I got. I'll try to attach the TSIB for the B-Pillar.

If you have to have the TSB Valve spring done, have them change your spark plugs (should be a freebie or maybe just the cost of the plugs). Make sure your headlights work properly. They are expensive to replace.
Generally speaking, the car is low maintenance. But of what needs to be maintained will cost you BIG time (especially serviced at a dealer).

FYI the valve spring is a recall and can be done even after the warranty is out. If you want new brake pads, complain about noise and dust... there is a TSIB on that. Also grinding noise from engine TSIB if you have that.
