How many came from 2GS to 3GS?
How many of you came from a 2nd gen gs to a 3rd gen? And do you miss your 2nd gen? I'm asking because my 2nd gen was stolen and I really love that car. So I'm torn between buying another 2nd gen paying cash or 3rd gen and a payment

I had a 2001 GS430 that my mother-in-law still drives every day. That car convinced me that when my wife and I had our first son and I needed a bigger car that it would be another GS. I finally settled on a 2006 GS430 that I got a pretty good deal on. The updated 6 speed transmission is great, and although the car is bigger the magnetoreological suspension and thicker roll bars make the car a ton of fun to drive. I can't say it's as much fun as my two intervening cars (2001 911 C2 and a 2008 G37s), but it is pretty good for a full size sedan!
I guess the real question is do YOU think the 3GS is worth the extra cost over the 2GS?

For my dollars the 3GS sure is a lot more stylish. More power for less gas, at least when speaking of the V6 models doesn't hurt either.
It seems like there will be less change style wise between 3GS and 4GS than there was going from 2GS to 3GS so it seems like they were pretty ahead of the curve when sculpting these things.

Had a 93,95,03,05 gs and now have a 3GS and am loving it. It is bigger faster smoother. But I think the build quality of the vehicle has gone down through the years. The 2nd you can't just feel that it was built well. I don't know I still love my 3GS. Styling is everything to me

I had a 95, loved the car, still miss it actually, was a solid car for sure interior just didn't seem to time well, then went to a 2001 that I kept for 7+ years or so, loved the car as well, just upgraded to a 2009 GS350, all wheel drive will be better for me in Chicago, the hp power is pretty rediculous for what it is...fast but a little loud....it took me a little while to actually fall in love with my new GS, cuz of a dash rattle I got fixed, the money I spent on the car some other minor things etc...but now love it just waiting to mod it......depending on what you want to spend you can get an 07 for pretty cheap in my opinion I just opted to have 20k lower miles and and 2 years newer for 6-7k.....

So this is the GS lovers thread....
For me; my first was a 98' black with beige interior GS 300. Totally fell in love with the GS model and never looked back.
Next was an 01' black on black GS 430; this car sealed the deal and is when I knew I would never go back to a 6 cylinder; So much better balance and power, this one hooked me.
Currently I drive a Matador Red with black interior 06' 430 I got back in Aug 05' and love this one the best. It is going on 6 years old now, looks brand new, and only has 30K miles on it. The design of the 3rd gen is better IMO, more aggressive and interesting design. The 2nd gen GS was awesome but the 3rd gen was edgier...

I came from a 98 LS400 to a 06 GS300 awd. I loved the quiet ride and power the LS had but it was a total in a hit and run and the air bags and weight saved my family in the car. I decided on the GS300 because it was awd for the 2x year snow we have and cause the 06 LS used was $55k versus the GS used at $28k. It's not as nice as the LS but the back seat has enough leg space. I checked out the IS but way too noisy for me.

I had a 2001 GS300 and traded for a 2006 GS300 AWD. The 2GS was built better, rode better, and had more room. The 3GS has more toys and looks better but I'm so disappointed with the overall quality of the car that I probably won't get another Lexus when the time comes (this is my third - the first was an ES). The best thing about the 3GS is the AWD, which really helps in the snow. The RWD 2GS handled so poorly in the snow that I was terrified to drive it.
