0w-20???
Hey all...I got a complimentary oil change on my GS today. Normally, I change the oil myself, but it's been too damn hot and smoky here, and I didn't feel like doing it this time around, so I called my GM buddy and he said they'd handle it.
I was very surprised to find out from the service advisor that all Lexus oil changes are full synthetic (I have never heard that before). ALL of them at that dealership are full synthetic, they don't even use dino anymore. I was even more surprised to read on my printout that they used 0W-20 when the manual clearly says 5W-30.
Has anybody else heard of this? And can some members in the know explain the differences between those two oils?

I am going to call the service advisor and I'll see what he says.

My dealership uses Shell non-syn if they change the oil on my '07 350GS, which they recommend every 5k mi., which is why I change my own every 7500k using Mobil 1. My wife's '10 uses synthetic, per Lexus, therefore Lexus recommends changing it every 10k miles.

It also syates checkin oil cap of what grade oil to use, my cap says 5w30. If it came out in 2006 i think all the 2007+ would have 5w20 on the oil cap, and in the manual. My 07 is a very late 07, it was build 08/2007 and sold 10/2007. Thats 2 months before 2008. I am not trying to argue or flame you, just pointing out the facts. If by any chance you have a tsb for 2007+ that says to use 5w20 please post it.
