Thanks L3XOTIC...

So I've attached the cost estimate from the appraiser. Not sure why they're subtracting the $500.00 deductible, because I am not responsible for it. He told me $32,000.00 over the phone, so I'm hoping they're not getting into this nickel and diming to avoid totaling the car.

This estimate also doesn't include them pulling all the panels to check for internal damage.

I was supposed to hear word today if the car is totaled, but my adjuster told me tomorrow.

they usually put in the deductible first because they don't have final decision of whose fault it is yet i guess, although it can be obvious. same for my collisions before. they stated deductible in the estimate, but i never paid anything on that

Okay that makes sense, I guess. Thankfully my GAP insurance covers the deductible, so there's nothing that I have pay out of pocket, even if I were at fault.

Well folks its done. Geico will be paying my car off.

Thanks for all the well wishes and advice for the past few days.

...now its decision time...what to do?, what do do!

i am glad that everything is decided and that they are totaling the car. that's the sensible things to do, it's too costly to repair a car in this condition, and i doubt it will ever be right.

next? seems like you are into leasing. if you ask me, either the bmw 5 series or just wait for the 4gs?

I'm going to try and hold off to see what the 4GS is all about. My dealership is willing to put me in something with little down, but I'd rather wait. No rush on my part, but I also feel like I need to wait on the first generation of the 4GS, to see what new engines they will have for second generation.

Thank God they totaled it. It would have been a nightmare and the car would have never been even close to what it was brand new.

I can tell you firsthand the enormous relief you feel when they tell you they're totaling it. Just an absolutely great feeling..which is needed after all the pain you've been through. Glad to hear they did the right thing.

From all the magazine reports, the 4GS is supposed to be much sportier and much better than the 3GS....time will tell. Good luck on your search!

maybe just get a 2 year lease on a car that you can find; and when lease is over, you are ready to consider year 2 of 4GS....

Default Lindsay Lexus

If your car is/was at Lindsay in Alexandria, I have nothing but great things to say about them. Unfortunately, they have worked on both my 06 and 07 GSs. I have a Glacier white 06 and was worried about them getting the color right.

Both jobs are perfect. You can not tell either had body work done on them.
