my gf's beat up ES300 is about to be retired and she is thinking about an 06 GS300 (cuz them 350s are too expensive lol).

Other than been the smaller engine, anything else we should look out for? any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

06 is gen4 nav, imho a big let down. gen5 is better. also in gen4, you can't play mp3 cds

yeah I have to agree, you can probably get something better in the 350's or even the 430's you can find at a reasonable price. I must agree with rominl Gen 5 is better.

I have an 06 myself and wish I had gotten the 350!!! It only has a few different things in 350 but definitely worth the extra 5 grand!!! I was searching the other day and found that the prices on the 350s has gone down a lil... I've seen some 07 350s going as low as 23-25 with good miles (40-50k).. I'd say go for the 350!!!!

My girlfriend convinced me to get the 07 350 when we were shopping for my GS a few years back. I'm glad I did! Nav is newer and front brakes are bigger, not to mention the extra power (245 vs. 303). A 2006 isnt too bad either though if the color combo and price is right.

if your GF wants a GS, my suggestion is to marry her.

All jokes aside, find an 07 GS350. You wont regret it versus the sluggish 06 GS300

I agree with everybody else, between the nav system, the engine, the brakes, the sharkfin (might cause some controversy here), and the age of the vehicle, I think the '07 350 is your best bet... It is a totally different vehicle & well worth the extra couple grand IMHO.

Also, neither the '06 or the '07 come with an AUX input, but the generation 5 navi gives you more options when it comes to aftermarket iPod interfaces... Overall I think you would regret not going with the 350.

2006 seems to be the linger year where they are transforming into the 3gs

while looking around for the right GS (06 or 07) and the price range the gf would feel comfortable with, we also came across the idea of Acura RL. Both seem to be in very similar price range. what are your thoughts as far as Acura RL (05+)? i dont see too many of them on the road, def. more conservative look but seem to get very good review. anyone cross shop the two? any thoughts?

rl is ok but i didn't even consider that car when i got my gs350. sorry but i just don't think the rl stacks up well with the gs. that's just my personal 2 cents though. the rl isn't a limited production car, imho it's selling so bad for a reason

The rl is hot but Acura ain't got nothin on Lexus... Don't forget, the rl is the "top of line" acura and brand new it goes for about 50k, the Gs is not the "top of the line" Lexus and it goes for about the same price brand new. We still got the big brother Ls that puts the rl to shame!! I would go wit Lexus all the way, the 350 will embarrass the rl!!!

I was in the same position a month ago, but I was lucky enough to have friends who own both 06 GS300 and 07 GS350, so I was able to really test drive them. I am just glad that I went with 07 GS350.
