Default MPG game

Drove the GS350 about 650 miles yesterday, and decided at the start of the trip I'd try to see how high I could average the MPG. My payload was about 600 lbs., a/c on all the way, outside temps in the 80's, about 100 miles through mountainous terrain. Averaged about 65 mph and actually ended the trip with an average of 30.1 MPG. In 4 years of driving my GS, I've never tried to maximize my mileage on a trip this long, but was really surprised to be able to get it this high. Has anyone else gotten similar results or better?

My highest was 28.72mpg. It's a GS430 though.

The car has me playing that game more than I want to. Takes the fun out of driving.

Here is the reading right before I stopped for gas yesterday.

With no counter-measures on board and ticket-writers everywhere, I decided to take it easy and not worry about making good time for once.

This game has been played before:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-mpg-game.html

Let's see who can beat me (on a GS350) for a sustained MPG over 100+ miles (and flat surfaces, not downhill) (also please excuse the crappy cell phone camera):

At Low Average Speed (over 285 miles as shown)- A/C on for this one:

At High Average Speed (over 139 miles as shown)- I think A/C was off:

241 miles cruising range don't count cause that's almost a full tank. At full tank the mpg fluctuate a lot.

I see a lot of you get average speed to 60s mph. I live in the city and never can get that high, max I could get was around 50mph.

Cruising range is actually the approximate distance left before empty. Distance is the distance driven since last refueling. And since it's an average figure, the mpg is more accurate the greater the distance traveled, not the inverse.

I average about 18-20 in my normal daily driving, which is 100% city.

My stats are from my road trips- usually between Houston and Dallas or Houston and New Orleans... pretty flat interstates. When I got the good mpg stats, I filled up outside of town with the engine already warmed up, then hit the road with cruise control.

Daily mixed driving in Houston I get about 22-24 mpg, with a WOT usually daily... lol. I enjoy driving my car...

Cruising range is estimate using the average mpg display at the time. Watch it and you will see it change as mpg change. But either way, high number meaning the tank is still pretty full.

And that also mean the mpg just recently got reset, so it's not very accurate. The mpg get reset every time you fill the tank, right after you fill and move a bit that mpg get down to like 5 or so very low which means it's not accurate at all.
