Change your transmission fluid
Lexus does not require to change the transmission fluid for our GS because of sealed transmission; however, if you are reaching 90k miles, you should flush or change it ASAP at your local Toyota dealer since they can do it at cheaper price than Lexus.
I just flushed my GS300 ATF at a local Toyota dealer and the fluid looks like dark chocolate with sludge when the technician showed me a sample. He recommends to flush out old fluid at 60k miles or 3 years if you want to keep your GS for a long time. Toyota dealer charges $200 for the flush and the technician uses around 10 bottles of WS fluid at $8 per bottle. I was asking him about DIY and he said many owners screw up and bring their cars in. This is not an easy DIY as changing oil and Toyota has a machine and tool to check on correct fluid temperature. The whole process took about an hour and my GS shifts so smooth after that.

My Lexus dealer states the fluid in our GS is a lifetime fluid and no maintance is needed. However, if I want, they can flush it out. I went to Toyota dealer since the flush is cheaper and Toyota can do the same thing as Lexus dealer because many newer Toyota models have sealed transmission as Lexus.

Just inquired myself about this and was told by the service advisor that the dealership didn t have a flush machine that they only drain and filled. He said that it takes around 4 quarts and must be hooked up to some special computer to make sure the fluid is at a certain temp while changing due to the fluid expanding while heated or whatever blah blah blah.... I looked in the owners manual and the transmission fluid capacity for rwd s only 1.6 quarts and 2.7 for awd. I have to call the service advisor back monday to see if their tech feels comfortable with rolling my car up on blocks to get the lift underneathe it. Seems like people go out of there way to not work on this car dammit!
