I wish it was a joke. 100% real. If this were a mid 60's Ferrari I think I would have a bonafide collectors item but, it's not that point in time nor is the marque that sought after at this point.

Flat rubbery.

I have an appointment with the service manager at my local Lexus dealer. I absolutely have a 2007 or older but it's being presented as a 2009. I'll let everyone know what happens.

Holy moly, this is the weirdest thing I have seen.....I am curious, can you post a pic of the door handle ?? I ask because if somneone swapped a bunch of parts, they cant swap the doors really.....See how the handle is different and also the crease on the side of the body is also in a different spot ......

What does the vin say when you put it into Lexus online? The photo you posted shows it is SUPPOSED to have been made in 09... :P

I don't think actual parts were switched...this is definitely all 2007 parts. But having all the vins swapped out for one belonging to a 2009...is that possible? Crazy.

That's crazy!! If you can somehow get paper proof that your car is an 07 and not an 09, you have yourself a winning case. Granted if your dealer doesn't do anything to correct the error.

I think we've supplied him with all of the proof he'd ever need to prove that this is an '07 ... or at least has all of the hallmarks of an '07.

One more difference between '07 and '08+ is that the bottom edge of the rear bumper cover is flat black in '07, and painted along with the rest of the body in '08+.

True but I don't think thread posts and images hold up in court. If the vehicle is truly a 07 there should be factual paper proof that indeed its an 07. I'm no lawyer though

I don't disagree. What the OP could do is take all of this to a dealership (presumably not the one he purchased the car from), and get a written affidavit attesting to the fact that this is a 2007. In theory, a Lexus dealership should be able to point this out without all of the stuff supplied here, but we all know that very few could do as good a job as the experts on this forum ... we just wouldn't qualify as an expert witness. In all likelihood there was a mutual mistake made here, and the deal would simply be nullified.

I'm no lawyer either, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once.

Honestly though, I'd be shocked if the Lexus dealership didn't recognize that they made a mistake and make the OP whole. Either by refunding him the price he paid (plus all of his expenses), refunding him the difference between an '07 and '09, or something else mutually agreeable. I think I'd take a refund and buy a new car ... too much going on with this one.

My bet is that someone tampered with the VIN plates and labels. It's the simplest conclusion, given everything the OP has posted so far. One other thing to check out would be to have a dealership read the VIN off of the ECU. This would really be tough to alter.

Did you purchase the car from a Lexus dealer or a independent dealer
