Did you purchase the car from a Lexus dealer or a independent dealer
Has this question been answered? I have looked this thread up and down and have yet to see from where this vehicle was purchased. This sounds beyond fishy to me!
I see that . . . .rominl said it a few posts ago . . . . . .if any legal action is forthcoming, the OP needs to stop posting on this site. Idle chatter tends not to help the legal cause, if there really is a need for any!
stuff like switching the whole dash, that's not as easy
definitely not easy for Joe. but it's not hard for most general mechanics, and cake for any Toyota/Lexus tech.. I'd switch all those parts for $1000 and all my meals. 2-3 days depending on how hot the weather is. as opposed to fabricating all them vins? the sticker ones on all the iambs are not from another lexus... there's no way to my knowledge to remove those without damaging them.. so if they are from another car, they are counterfeits made by some jack of all trades who literally "makes" a lot of money when when he's not making these vin tags and cutting, grinding, fitting, stamping, welding, and then painting vin on the firewalls. then the whole registering with dmv? that entire route sounds more time consuming, complicated and un-likely x 2 if u ask me. rather than the ol switch a roo of some parts? I could be wrong. if I am I will definatley be impressed more than anything
me three
but if its true, i would TRIP if it happened to me
i'd empty my car out, go straight to the dealer and show him proof that it's not an 09.... then give the dealer the opportunity to either compensate me or go to court
No its more likely the opposite. A 2007 that was totaled, and then to avoid a salvage title he put a 2009 VIN plate on it. Maybe he bought a VIN plate from an overseas market totaled 2009 model and then put the plate on a US 2007 model.
Since the totaled 2009 would be an overseas car that VIN would have no negative history on carfax.
WOW! That makes a ton of sense... My bet would be that this is EXACTLY what happened. Either that or somebody without insurance totalled their car and parted it out.
