Default remote car starter - warranty void?

Reputable installer of remote car starter in town wants to charge me $250 for my 2008 GS.

Lexus dealership quoted me $750.

I dont need anything elaborate, but will I risk a warranty void for having this done by a third party?

technically no but if anything electrical goes wrong with the car the dealer will try and blame it on the alarm

anything done by a third party will risk voiding your warranty.... but whats the worst that can happen by installing a remote start system?

I would say don't install after market starters, I bought my car recently with a car starter and I went to lexus for my recall fix, and they told me the wiring inside is burning and they had to tape the wire. Because the car was vibrating/in dash lights were on after they fixed the recall. they called me to ask if I had a security system in the car or anything I said..yeah then after after they found the issue. I have autostar car starter and they said they dont have any car starters for this car. :S not recommended due to electrical issues. Now i'm looking to remove my starter. I even got this check system light on the hwy after driving for a while before and he said its due to the wire touching the engine, but now they taped it but didnt see the other wires..

I have had a remote starter on my car for 3 years with noooo problems what so ever. The main reason our car isn t the most ideal application for a starter is because of the push button starter. a security system is nothing but a bunch of relays and switches no reason it should damage the electrical system unless a real idiot does something to cause problems. Our car requires 2 bypasses to work one for the brake pedal and another for the push button and after the car is started the alarm must be disarmed and if the brake pedal is not engaged within 30 seconds of the alarm disarming when you do finally hit the brake to put the car into gear the car will stall out. I love my system nothing like the a/c seats and a/c cranking when the summer heat is blazing or the car is a toasty 85 degrees inside when the air is freezing outside!!!

I feel it's a must-have if you live in the northeast (and don't have a garage)
