I'm thinking that changing the ballast may be the most economical, and easiest to do, but my major concern in all honesty, is will I run into this same problem again? Being that the ballast will blow simply because the condensation build up/water pooling in the headlight. I took it to a reputable mechanic in my area, who said if I purchase aftermarket HID bulbs, that he can bypass the factory HID system, and use the ballast/bulbs from the kit. I'm somewhat leary of this, because I don't know if this will alter the AFS, and once again, the condensation issue.

Do I simply need to open up my headlights, and reseal these?

And I may be interested in that extra ballast if we could work something out. Just PM me.

That's my BIGGEST concern with going the flea-bay route....I would much rather just change the ballast as I know what my headlights are about.

id complain to lexus. my ballast went bad in my old headlight because i didnt have my front wheel liners in and water got into the headlight which eventually made its way down to the ballast. when i pulled the ballast, you could see where the water just puddled on it.

Here's an update after my update. So,we take the car in and they replace the entire headlight.Wife brings it home and I notice 2 scratches in the headlight and a chip off the paint where it looks like they pryed the light out. We call the dealer, they tell us to bring the car in for inspection and now they are going to do this all over again. I am kind of pissed that they chipped the paint even though they are going to touch it up.

you cant "pry" the light out. the bumper has to come off in order to remove the light.

So,you thought the entire light assembly for our cars are expensive at $1000-$1300 per side? The parts manager told us that a lightfor the LS460 is .......are you ready???......$5000.00!!!

He said part of the reason is that the bulb is a step up from an HID bulb. If thats true,I did not know there was a step above the HID.

thats dealer prices. you can find lights pretty cheap if you look around. also keep in mind the dealer doesnt like to troubleshoot the problem, instead they just replace the whole housing

Touch it up?...nahhhhhh, I'd make them repaint the whole chipped part.
