Lexus/Toyota

There is definitely a superficial family resemblance between the GS and the Avalon. However, that's where all similarities come to a screeching halt. I doubt if they have anything more than a few very basic components in common, like bolts, wiring harnesses, etc. The interior and exterior dimensions are completely different, as are the engines, transmissions, suspensions, etc. Other than that though, they're basically twins.
I think pervasive badge-engineering (by the Detroit-3 in particular) makes a lot of people suspicious about the "authenticity" of luxury cars from manufacturers who also produce non-luxury cars. While your Cadillac Escalade may arguably really be a Chevy Suburban, Chevy Avalanche, or GMC Yukon, your Lexus GS isn't really a Toyota Avalon or Scion tC.

Yeah!! They both have 4 tires!! And both have taillights!! Lol. Sorry but I drive a GS and not a avalon, had I wanted a avalon I would of bought that and not a GS. I have no problem with my car being built by toyota or that I drive a toyota, after all they're the ones behind the LFA I love my car and consider it a refined toyota.

No, I have no problem with Lexus and Toyota are related. But I see Avalon has it's own design and so is Camry and GS too. Now I see Corolla copies from Camry, an actual design copy.
Anyway, I think ppl do care. ppl try to mod and makes their vehicle stands out.
Yes CAK 500, I do see a little similar in the tail. But it's different enough that I can clearly tell which is GS and which is Avalon.

BMW, the car with overheating engines. Benz, the car with more electronic problems than any car in history, other than Jag.
I'll take my Toyota any day of the week.

Audi and Porsche may be derived from VW but it's the Benz and BMW crowd with the biggest mouths about heritage purity that makes me laugh.
