Default What a Lexus Dealership Offered Me for the GS300

I have decided to sell our 2006 GS300. For months we have been getting letters from dealerships stating that they want to buy our vehicles as there is a shortage of them and good used cars are in high demand these days. LOL,I know its BS and they just want to get us in there so they can sell us a new one.Whatever.

Anyway, out of curiosity,we called the dealership where he said they were very interested. We go down there and a salesman takes our information about the car. Someone comes out looks at the car and a few minutes later, the salesman tells us the offer.

Would anyone like to take a guess on their price?

Car is about as flawless as a car can be. Its white, tan interior, with almost every option you can get. ML stereo, navagation, rear spoiler, etc. with 33,000 babied ,mostly female driven miles.

Those are all very good guesses. The offer was $17,500-18,000. I actually laughed and said he was crazy. The salesman said if we sold it for that, that he would buy it himself.

I knew the offer would be low,but thats LOW. I found it insulting. They would sell it CPO and ask an easy 31k.

For the record,KBB says the car is worth just under 26k on a trade.

Actually some dealers would probably sell it for less than 31K i'd say they would sell it for at least $28,500 just cause dealers want to make some money but don't want it to sit on the lot forever. Don't get me wrong they sure insulted you for that price knowing your car is worth about 26k trade in yeah they really wanted to make some money off you. I've heard that when you get those offers its just a business tactic to get customers to come in, so in other words you lose and wont get the best deal.

If you have a Carmax, hit them up, then you have seven days to use their offer to shop the car to other dealerships. Here in my area, lots of places say they will beat a Carmax offer. Even if it is only $100 bucks, that is a tank plus of gas. Good luck.

Carmax was a joke when I brought my 2006 lx470 earlier this year. They offered $26K...I ended up trading in at the Infiniti dealer for $32.5K, which was still a little lower than kbb range for $33-35K, but got a great price on the new QX56. They listed my lx470 that week for $40K and it was sold within 2 weeks.

The trend of these recent posts is troubling. I know you get screwed on trade-in, but it seems to me that the GS model is not getting exceptionally poor value on tradein.
