how to improve brake feel?
so my car is in the shop and i have a 2010 galant rental. the brakes on this thing are so much better than my car. just tapping the pedal brings the car to a hault compared to the slushy, pulsating feel that i get from my gs. what can i do to improve the feel and braking of the gs? will stainless steel lines and high performance brake fluid be enough or do i need the pads and rotors too? any recommendations on which brands to go with? thanks.

Braking
I have owned many models of new cars and I think the braking is above average. If I wanted to I could put many vehicles behind me in city driving in my trunk. Braking is also affected by the quality of the tires that you use. I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.

I notice my aunt's 2006 is350 has better braking feeling also. I just barely touch it the car stops so hard! With my car I really have to step down just for it to get that jerking fast stop feeling. I was think maybe because I got my rotors resurfaced...could that be one reason? Maybe we can answer two peoples question.

the paddle is drive by wire, maybe the dealer can tune it. I have the GS430 '06 too and it is responsive too. I try not to brake too hard though. Now used to my car, I feel other cars I have to push it allllll the way down.

pulse
08, 48k, pads and roters (front) replaced (yes, replaced) after dust and squeaking. Currently have 5k on these new brakes and notice a frequent pulsating when applied "gently". Over 50% of the time this pulsating causes vibration into the cabin and some rattling. Checked by dealer 2 weeks ago and they stated no problems; i.e. no hot spots, rotors not warped and pads wearing correctly. I have noticed that after the car is washed the pulsating is not as frequent. Maybe brake dust buildup? Bottom Line: this was not a problem on previous brakes (excessive dust) and I have IS 350 that does not have this brake feel.

Finally the answer to the problem; this week driving in rush hour I finally noticed the vibration was from the rear tires. It got so bad that the tire vibration would cause my sunroof to vibrate. Went to the dealer; rear rotors had become warped; pads were 33%. What bothers me the most; one month ago I had the 50k service completed and complained about the vibration when braking. They concluded that pads were acceptable and unable to duplicate the vibration. They did discount 15% off the parts and 50% off labor after I commented on their inability to duplicate the problem one month ago. Nobody is perfect but service with Lexus (any dealer) is so expensive and I believe they need to do a better job. My wife; owner of a ISF goes to a independent Lexus shop and was very vocal that this would not had happened with her service provider. Oh well; maybe it is time to switch and go for a multi-car discount.
