Default coolant leak from....

the water outlet. My knowledge for cars is not too great. but i was wondering - can this be fixed simply with a sealant? Also, where is the water outlet located???

thanks for any help

first of all, what do you mean when you say water outlet? do you mean the drain plug on the radiator, the weep hole on the the waterpump, or something else? i think you are using the wrong term for whatever is leaking. Second of all, i never recommend putting any sort of stop leak, or sealant products inside the cooling system. it can create other problems such as plugging up the heater core or restricting coolant flow making the engine run hotter. i also need to know what engine you have. 300, 350, 430, 450h?

I get the feeling he's talking about the overflow tube. What is your coolant level when the car is cool? If there is too much coolant when the car heats up it will come out of there.

What does your temperature gauge read when driving after a while, if it's not right in the middle the car could be overheating which will cause the coolant to overflow as well.

My money is on #1. Somebody filled the overflow tank up with too much coolant when the car was cold.

well im assuming you had a mechanic look at it or else you wouldnt know its leaking form the water outlet. id ask the mechanic what does he mean when he says water outlet. im leaning towards a bad water pump.

How about some photos of what you're referring to? That could help shed some light. Everyone's assuming now.
