One of my buds runs TTC,Eric use to live out here,We use to have pretty big supra meets back in the day when alot of us still owned them here in Va. His supra has went through so many changes its crazy, The level of performance he is using with the toyota v8s is a far cry from what im talking about now.He is using full engine management systems done to the hilt.
passnu.. Thats strange a intake pipe change gave you lean codes.Id think it was more to do with the maf placement on the pipe and the filter type,looks like the srt was using a metal mesh and the injen was a oiled mesh filter k&n type..
If the cats are gutted and the cutouts are placed behind the second set 02s this will be pretty much straight dump exhaust and shouldnt throw codes

yep, your friend eric gave me insight on building my engine. As soon as school's done that's the 2nd thing (After I buy a new house) that i'll be doing.

XX... last I heard he was running motec I believe,nothing but the best for cowboy,lol. Ive always appreciated his approach to things,he is a innovator even beyond the yota v8 stuff. Doing something out of the norm and making it work vs the tried and true know mods is his specialty. Ive done all the motor builds with the sups through the yrs,but this lex is a DD luxury car to me,so im just wanting the very basics in performance from it to make it just a little more of a drivers car. It is the most disconnected vehicle I have ever driven. Everything is elec activated.I like this to a certain point but its a little overkill.
passnu.. The srt was a metal mesh filter though right? I think I will prolly just go for the basic toms drop in filter if I can ever find one for a decent price,the cost they are charging for a drop in air filter at the places Ive found that carry toms brand are retarded

I really want to do cutouts on my LS460 and since this thread is talking about a 460 gs I thought I could find some good answers here...Aftermarket is pretty weak in the LS scene so I thought why not cutouts. From reading up on the IS-F guys I've seen that if the cutouts are installed after the 2nd cats somewhere that they won't throw off codes, but not seeing anyone do this on a LS or having any evidence that I'd get the same results without screwing up somewhere i'm still sketchy about it... I would get electronically controlled cutouts of course and I'd be using them for more of a sound purpose than a performance gain purpose so if putting them after the cats give me less performance that's okay. By the looks of that video he had them right before the muffler to accomplish that awesome sound, so far that seems like a good place to put them. So I guess i'm asking if anyone has any ideas of if it's safe or not to do this and if so where to put them?

dude just get a custom exhaust and call it a day... and those who say they do not add performance have no clue... heck my exhaust aint a true dual and it added quite a bit of performance and thats not based on butt dyno but runs with other 460s.

how many lengths you pull them by after the mod? only prob with that is you have to listen to the louder exh all the time,Id take a slight decrease in power from a full exh just to be able to hit the siwtch once in a while and then go back to silent most the time. the thing to keep in mind,it really is a luxury car,much less of a sports car,so it should be treated as such,especially if its not your only ride

Well i ran a 13.80 with a not so decent 60ft. Stock US Spec GS460 with 342HP run 13.9 (according to lexus)... so our Middle-East detuned GS460s with 322hp should run 14.2? so thats almost a .5 improvement.. so yeh there is some gain.
