Default Looking for a DIY Exhaust removal/install

So I used the search button and searched the 3gs forum for a DIY of removing and installing an exhaust. I recently purchased an aftermarket exhaust and I'm trying to do this soon. I have jack stands and a jack. I have plenty of other tools too. What tools do i exactly need to do this removal/install? Also a step by step guide to removing the stock exhaust would be great. I am sure I could figure out how to install the aftermarket one, if I know how to remove the stock one.

I assume you have an axle back?

It's rather easy once you lift you car. If it's not replacing your mid pipe jacking the rear should allow enough room. You have 2 rubber hangers on each muffler just above your exhaust tip. The next 2 are right were the axle back bolts the mid pipe. Wd40 will help if you spray in the rubber to easily pull them off. That's it for the axle back. If it's your mid section also you will need to remove 1 of your o2 sensors and get a special socket at your local parts store.

As for a DIY...check the 2 gen ISx50 section or even the ISF since they share the same design exhaust.

Thanks passnu2, I found this DIY write up and it seems pretty thorough. I'm very hyped, will start (and hopefully finish) the install tonight after work. So here it is, for all the lazy people who don't feel like searching the other car sections lol

Your welcome!

You can take pics and make a 3gen DIY if you want. I know they are the same from working on both cars but many don't know that they share many of the same designed parts even if they are different in size.

If you do myself or one of the MODS can add it to the FAQ thread I started.

So does this mean an ISF exhaust will fit an 06 GS430 ???? With a little bumper trimming

no not out of the box...you would have to take it to a shop that could weld and fabricate it. Its too "short" and not "wide" enough with the size differences. If you put them on the ground next to each other they are identical minus this slight variance.
