Need a little help with my stereo guys...
I have an issue with my stereo. I have no volume and no sound from the radio or cd's. I have a dice ipod aux connector (no sound either) and I have a aftermarket amp and sub. The amp and sub run in tandem with the stock amp/sub. A couple weeks ago I lost sound then it came back and then i lost it again. For the past few weeks I just hear two pops when I start the car. The volume **** and steering control don't seem to register on the screen with no number increments. When playing a cd its playing with the time elapsing. Also, the radio seems to work and i can switch stations. Just no darn sound. Its pretty frustrating.
I did some searches and did not find anything that could really help me. From reading a few posts, it may be wiring or a bad amp.
Its a 2006 gs430 non ML. It is out of warranty so I want to see if I can resolve it on my own.
Has anyone seen this? Please help, thanks.

Take it all apart and put it back to OEM...see if it works and then put it back together with the dice. I had this happen once with the vias I had and this process reset everything and I had no issues after that. You can also find out if the Dice unit has failed and rule out your OEM set up this way.

Thanks passn and mr3. As soon as I have time I'm gonna yank the dice out. It sucks.
Man, i hope all goes well. I'd hate to think of having to replace that headunit.
I will post when and how i get it resolved.
While I'm on the ipod connector subject, can anyone recommend any ipod connectors? Are there any that are straight up aux cables? Instead of having a intelligent connector like vais and dice type connectors?

Just an update. The weather wasnt so bad today...so i went outside and pulled my console apart. The only thing i did was yanked the ipod integrator out. Second, I disconnected from the battery. Started her up and the sound was back. Turned off the car and turned it back on, checked the stereo... and no sound. Really irritating. Hopefully the guy who installed the stereo can eliminate the sub and amp for me. If he can, then i might need a new head unit. 35k and need a new factory headunit. Damn!

Disconnect the battery and remove the DICE unit, leave the battery disconnected for like 2 hours. Reconnect the battery but don't start it for another hour. See if that fixes it. if it does, sell that DICE unit.
My BMW had a DICE unit and it really did a number on my cars B.U.S.I was told to do the following and it worked for me. But my Dice also caused issues with my NAV and AC. I Had no idea it was the culprit till I removed it, allowed the BUS to reset and everything suddenly worked fine again.

Yes, while you are at that. I wouldn't rule out your H.U. as the culprit until you can test the sound coming from the HU to the amplifier, I had a diagram a while back somewhere in a requested thread. Run it by that and just run a tiny speaker to that head unit's wiring. If there's no sound that means it's your HU, if there is sound, it's most likely your car's OEM amplifier rather than the HU. Not nice when you have to replace a $2k unit, when it might be something that's a couple hundred in the rear.
