I'm looking for a 2GS to replace mine that was totaled, but I'm looking at a 2006 GS430 this afternoon, it has a whopping 180k miles/290k km on the odo

Supposedly it has been maintained very well and been in for Lexus servicing at the expected intervals, all records are available. No accidents, and only the hood has been repainted once from a car washing incident

They're asking about half of what the going rate is for a typical 06 with normal mileage, so that is what has piqued my interest (since I'm on a 2GS budget.)

Would anyone here have concerns about this vehicle considering the price adjustment and all records being provided? I know I can expect a lot of wear items to start failing or coming due if they weren't done already - suspension, control arms, A/C/heater core recharge, things like that. Would these things be expensive enough that you would just shy away and forget the 3GS if I'm on a 2GS budget?

I plan to do some mild VIP on my next car as well - lowering, tint, stereo/ipod type stuff, but no performance mods.

GS430 is rock solid engine so mileage really don't bother it.

Mine is over 100K.

I would be concern with the repaint hood and all the 100K maintenance if it's close to that.

I'm split on this one as well. Of course a model with less miles is desirable but the money saved could more then off set future repairs. And if it was well maintained, perhaps some of the major items and service has already been done.

Calculate the savings vs common replacement parts at such high miles.

on a gs430 250,000 is high mileage at 180,000 you can still drive it like you stole it and not worry one bit

I would be scared i don't know who drove it and how they drove it. But here's a little thing if it got to 180000 then he must of been doing something right.

But you have to take into account exactly how it was driven, city? Highway? The wear and tear that the car took, cause as we all know parts arent cheap, these arent hondas. I would take it to get a thorough inspection and then go from there

Honestly I hate to have a car that is close to 80k, but Lexus is really bullet proof. I do think thats a lot of miles for a car but if the prices is 11k I don't think I would mind. How much are they selling it for, if you don't mind me asking.

Just look at the car. Does it look like its been taken care of? Ive seen 1998 1999 es300's with over 200k look amazing because it was taken car of but then last winter I looked at a 99 es300 with 30,000 miles on it and it was rough. Then get it inspected before you purchase it. Best of luck.

My gs 400 has 250k plus and runs strong, but alot of the miles are highway miles.

If its from Hawaii then yes I would be terrified of high miles

Exactly, and with that car averaging around 30k and year, there's a good chance it was highway miles..

While I might trust the engine block, the electronics associated with how the car performs is what concerns me. Japanese cars (vs domestic or European cars) do not insulate the wiring as well as their counterparts. That's where my concern lies. In the wiring, which is an expensive repair.

What are you talking about? What's over 10 years old? Dude is looking at a 2006 3GS.

To the OP, for around 10K I would prolly jump on it. Yes some things will need repairing but you are saving a bundle for a car that should last a long time still.

Besides, you can still get a 2JZ for around 1K if the engine blows.

I think he is looking at the GS430 which uses the 3UZ-FE engine and not the 2JZ in the 2GS. The 2JZ however is a great engine as I have a GS300 with almost 200k miles on it with no problems at all except for a shift solenoid on the transmission.

Get some warranty if you are afraid but my '06 gs430 is awesome. Love mine.
