Default getting the dash rattles fixed by lexus: opinions wanted

Hey guys,
I've had my 07 gs350 for all of two weeks and I'm hearing the infamous dash rattles. It is a cpo and I wanted to know if anyone that had the dash fixed by TSB had success. And even more important did anyone have problems of the dash not being put back correctly or any other similar problem? I'm pretty picky about that stuff and weighing the risk/reward. Don't wanna make the problem worse. When the radio is up it doesn't matter but still would like it fixed by lexus if its worth it. Thanks.

Why don't you search for few DIY dash rattle fixes and try to tackle it your self first?

I don't trust myself if it involves removing the dash and I'm taking the car in anyway for something minor so I figured why not let lexus handle it for me. I've heard there are kits they put out specifically to take care of the issues? I'm really just hoping nobody has had a bigger problem pop up by having them remove the dash.

a little searching goes a long way. to fix it yourself it doesnt involve removing the dash at all and maybe takes about 15 to 20 minutes of your time. all it really involves is pushing pieces of felt down between the windshield and dash. theres also a thread on how to fix other rattles as well. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...iy-thread.html

im not sure what you mean by "kits". kits by who? the dealer? all the dealer does is completely remove the dash and line the bottom of the dash with felt to make it quieter. some dealers do actually replace the windshield clips as well.

Yeah I saw the info about stuffing felt between dash and windsheild but somebody also posted instructions on removing the dash. I was assuming that was the best way to fix the prob.

And I didn't look thru the thread again but somebody def said their SA mentioned a "kit". Maybe the kit was just a bunch of felt...lol.

In any case, if u had yours done by the dealer and the prob was gone I'm going to mention it to the dealer and let them see if they can do it

i got the rattles fixed by the dealership. Came out great after they finished, It took them a day but they got every single one. Have yet to hear the rattles as bad as they were. They did not take apart the dash as that didnt work that was done before with nothing accomplished. The Lexus tech used felt in all the places were parts seemed to move and after he finished it was sound quite. I would make sure they dont take apart the dash just tell them to use felt they should know this by now.

Good Luck!

hmmm interesting. i know they made new clips for the windshield that is suppose to fix the rattle, maybe thats what they meant by kit.

id take it to the dealer and let them do it. it seems like its hit or miss though. some people have luck with it and some dont. i do see the majority of people do get the rattles back within a year (its typical when the climate starts to change).
