engine reliability
Please be truthful. Are the new engines in the gs350 more reliable than in the old
2jz in the earlier models. My 94 sc300 has 237000 and goin pretty well with mininum problems.

2 way different technologies and mindsets behind the engineering.
First and almost always Inline 6's are inherently going to have a longer longevity than a V6. The intention of the V design was for space saving.; back in the straight 8 days. You had a nose on a car like a battleship with anything bigger than a I6.
In comparison. your 200+ mile SC300 is running strong. But will suck more gas and burn more oil, than the V6 Camry being driven by a 17y.o. girl....that just blew you away at the light.

They should be good if they are taken care of. There are many older es300's/camry's running around with 200+ miles and doing great. How are the 4.6's holding up? In the ls they seem to be doing good. Seen many with over 100k but not so many gs460's.

Considering there were 32 GS460's sold , I dont think you will get too many problems recorded.

there is more then 32 sold. as for the gs350 im not sold yet especially with the timing gear issue and the valve spring recall.
the 430 is bullet proof and could almost be sold with a 500,000 mile engine warranty lol

I'm with tbilisi79 -- I think there were maybe more like 50 built (and he was also kidding)
neurocity: I developed a bit of that paranoia myself in a good test drive. Plus it was just tough to look in the "big" trunk of the newer hybrid ('09+) right next to a std. GS's trunk. This might surprise you, but keep an eye on the Lexus CPOs advertised off the main Lexus site. There was a very nice '08 GS460 with low 30k miles for mid $30ks on there a week back -- Silver with Black.
I probably would have bought it (it was in socal) had I not just found/bought the 430. Sorry to have read your 450h tale -- it's probably fine forever now you know...
