Default Ashtray door not springing back

Does anyone have trouble with their ashtray door not closing on its own very well? I have to give mine some help and my old GS had no trouble. I took it apart and greased it up, but that still didn't help. I noticed some type of roller spring mechanism in there and that probably lost its tension??

Funny was gonna say you should take it apart but then I kept reading. Yeah I would def just put a new spring in it as it sounds like its done.

Of course the spring is not sold separately. You have to buy the whole assembly which is around $300.

$231...unless of course you're a smoker, then nevermind. I have this installed in my car...it's great!

What colour is your wood trim? I have the whole center console piece from 2008+ including that tray in a brown/red wood colour sitting in a box in the garage.

The colour of the wood is different than the piece it was going to replace and eventually it drove me crazy.

That's the colour of the center console I have which is all of the wood there including the the ash tray and cup holders parts. I dunno, PM me with what it's worth to you if you're interested (it's in used condition but no major marks). I've just been keeping it as a backup in case my existing wood gets messed up. I paid a few hundred for it myself.
