Need some opinions on tire sizing...
Whats up all? Spring is quickly approaching and I am getting ready to order a set of staggered Vossen CV3's. I'm having a bit of trouble picking out the sizing of tires and could use some help/opinions on this topic. I am definately wanting to go with the Hankook Ventus V12 tires because they are highly rated and very inexpensive compared to other brands.
With this being said, I want to stick as close to OEM sizing and from what I have researched, the perfect combo is 245/30/20 (fronts) and 285/25/20 (rears). I contacted Hankook and they notified me that there is no production scheduled at this time for the 285/25/20's which means we probably wont see them for at least another year.
I have seen some people go with the 245/30/20 (fronts) and 275/30/20 (rears) combo in which the rear is about 1" taller than the front but have not heard of any issues with this.
I also found that Hankook makes a 295/25/20 which shows to be within OEM spec based on 1010tires.com, but shows to be another 1/2" wider .
What do you guys think? Given that I go with 245/30/20's in the front, should I get 275/30/20's or 295/25/20's for the rear? Also, do any of you know of issues with either of these sizes that I should concern myself with?
Any other sizing recommendations welcome, but I want to do as little modification as possible to my car.
Thanks for the help all!

yeah like they say you get what you pay for, thers other reasonable price tires out there you can choose, like falken nankang nitto, plus I think with those 295 youre gonna have to do some serious rear fender modding

Thanks for the comments guys, but I guess I am kind of confused with them... With most of the comments, it seems as if you are all saying the Hankooks aren't good. I have heard nothing but good reviews about these tires and that coupled with the lower cost, I thought it was a no brainer to get them. Based on the 1010tires.com calculator the 295's are only 0.4" wider than the 285's... I guess I dont know how close the 285's are from the edge to know if its a big deal so if anyone can comment on this, I would appreciate it. I think I am still on the fence between the 275/30's and 295/25's cause I have heard alot of good reviews with the Hankooks and really dont want to spend the $$$ for the names of the others especially since I will only be driving on them for 3-4 months out of the year.

Just go with the nankangs, cheap tire you can flip them to if your running negative camber slightly noisy but cheaper and they stretch well if your going for that. I have a 225/30 and 245/30 stretched but my car is rwd and pretty much a toy and not very functional as a daily driver

Well, since I haven't really recieved any useful information yet, I think I am just going to order the wheels soon and have to test fit them without tires and measure to see if I have clearance for the 295's as this would be my preference over the 275's.
For any of you that are running a set of 285/25/20's, I would appreciate it if you could measure your clearance (inside and outside) and report back as this would tell me whether an extra 10mm is really a big deal or not.

Have you ever consider Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta? Somebody told me they make great tires and they do have the size you want,285/25/20, on ebay. I am also thinking to get Vossen CV3 and therefore is also doing some research on tires. Does anyone know if 285/25/20 will rub at the rear without any modification?(I used to have 275/30/19 and have no issue)

Another thing to remember is based on tire tread, design etc we have noticed that some tires fit and others do not. Mike in Chicago I believe was the first with 295s on his 3GS with no rubbing issues (not sure what tire he ran).

Thanks for the heads up on this. Is there any way to figure this out ahead of time? I didn't know if the manufacturer's release specs with that type of info. I used 1010tires.com's sizing calculator and it showed the 295's to have a width of around 11.4" i believe.

Mike had 255's up front 295's in the rear with shave quarters. Without the shaved quarters it would have rubbed. I believe his works were close to typical vossen offsets. I have his old car. 20x10.5 rear rim also I believe. I have Toyo t1r's on my GTO and love them! 245/35 19 up front 275/30 19 in back. 19x8.5 fronts 19x10 rears. 275's are stretched on the 19x10's. Great tread wear, quiet and handles great in dry and wet. I've got around 15k on mine. Lowered 2 inches. If I had put my camber kit on earlier I would expect to get 25-30,000 miles out of these tires. Spirited driving. Highly recommend
