new to this forum.. looking to purchase a gs 300 or is250.
hi everyone, i currently drive a mercedes c230, and shopping for a new car thats more reliable. i wanted to know the reliabilty factor on a 2006 or 2007 lexus gs300... i may be purchasing one at about 80,000 to 115,000 which ever deal i get. is there common issue to be aware of. and if i do purchase the gs at that high of mileage, what is it i should inspect and change the moment i get it. ? any feedback would be great.

btw the 2007 is a GS350, different engine and more updated navi generation. I think the car overall is very reliable. There is a ticking noise that will come from the engine, but this is normal (and slightly annoying). When I purchased my used gs350, i actually took it to a lexus dealer and paid them to do a overall safetly inspection but it did cost $300, but worth every penny for the piece of mind IMO.

What you are comparing is two very different cars. The GS is a larger sedan that has more power and space then the IS 250. If it's the 07 GS 350 you'll have even more power with 306 hp. The size difference and options that come with the GS standard as opposed to the IS 250 is also a grocery list. In reality you have to look at the cars side by side and compare the two and determine the price difference. If it's in your budget and less the a 5K spread on the cars I would most likely go with the GS anything over you should look at point by point.

Navi is not a standard option. I'd definately choose a GS before an IS. I like bigger cars.
The main thing I am not happy about w/ my gs (AWD version) is that they don't like to be lowered. Look in the suspension forum for details. Good luck with your purchase!
