Just wanted to give you guys an update since I was able to try out the bike carriers this weekend. Attached both bikes to the roof with ease and they were extremely secure, even while doing 85 on the highway. They didn't shake or so much as make a sound either.

So, I just checked on Thule's website, and they don't have a rack available for the 3rdGen GS yet. Does anyone else have any other options they have used successfully? I'm tempted to buy the factory stuff from overseas mentioned previously, but if there is something available locally, that might work out better for me.

in short, yes you can add a roof rack, with no problems....
as to how much weight it is capable of holding depends on the type of the roof rack.
Most are about 125lbs I think.

Yeah, I've been in the same boat. They are not universal. You need them specifically made to fit your car, and no one has any at this point. There was someone that posted a while back that he took his GS to the Thule factory, and as a test, they fitted his car with racks, but so far, they haven't indicated that they have any that will fit. I even tried to order them from overseas dealers, per this thread, and they wouldn't ship them to me in the US. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=210774

im kinda disappointed that the trunk is so small, my Trek bicycle wont fit in it. the Honda Accord has no problem fitting two bikes! unbelievable right??
so im thinking of getting a trunk bike rack. the problem is, my Trek is Y shaped, its not the standard two triangles bike frame. would this work for my bike?
how do you do it?

Will something like this work for your bike? connects around handlebar yoke and seat post to create a cross bar for hanging on a rack. Not endorsing the online site, just the first place i found a picture. I use one of these all the time. found at most bike stores.

Or check and see if there is a Yakima or Rackattack dealer near you. they may have some other options.
