Which is a better engine, V6 or V8?

Went to McGrath Lexus here in Chicago.... Service tech told me the GS460 doesnt need a timing belt change ever because its a chain-driven engine...... Seeing that this is the case, V8 usually handle great over time with chain driving engines. Much like the classic rolls-royce, and bentley.
