There more than 1 TSBs on brakes for dust and squeal w/ revisions. So depending on your MY you may already have applied.
Here is link to release from '09 which specifically calls out shims...
http://lexus.sewellparts.com/pdf/L-SB-0015-09
You'll find the others by doing a search as they're are around here (and in IS forum). You'll be overwhelmed if you do a search on squeal![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Anyhow, OEM shim kit still comes w/ a pair of shims per pad - only 1 per pad is necessary (in most other mfg braking applications). A second only creates oppty for vibration and squeal. My '07 had the high dust pads, then the improper fitting pads (rattled/shifted w/ change of direction - partially due to shims) and then high squeal err I mean low dust version w/ improper shims. I have since solved completely by dumping the OEM low dust and going w/ Akebono's.
Good luck

Alright? The tsb clearly states to replace old shims with new shims and still ask to use 2 shims per pad!!!!!!! I had akebonos and they were good pads, but keep in mind they are ceramic and that means when they start heating up they transfer material onto the rotors which then cause vibration in steering. For a normal driver those pads are awesome ut for a spirited driver like me I prerer oem pads.

I have done a lot of brake work on my track/street truck and have a set of wilwoods front and back figured out by a very smart brake guy/ racer.
I have pads for street and pads for track.
Street pads have to work cold as in a " OH CRAP I GOTTA STOP NOW " situation in traffic.
Track pads need to deal with much more heat an will not be good in a street cold panic stop situation.
Street pads do not work on the track as they overheat .
So the waste product of brake systems is the softer material.
If you wear pads out first you get dust, as you use a harder pad you start to use rotor metal.
If they are equal they make a bunch of heat and boil the fluid.
After a few sessions at the track I have metal(rotor dust ) as well as pad dust on the truck.
So if you get pads that have low dust you are either wearing rotors or making a bunch of heat in the brakes.
Sorry for the long winded talk but this is what I have learned over a lot of years.

Anyone have any luck getting Lexus to cover the squeaking under warranty? I have an 07 350 that is cpo. Only had it since Jan. I get the squeaking mainly when I'm braking at slower speeds but it's almost all the time

The TSB for this issue came up on one of these threads recently, unfortunately it only covers the original factory warranty (under 50K). If your car is under that mileage you can probably get them to do it. I also have a 07 GS350 CPO but I was over the mileage, I had my brakes serviced at toyota, good now.

I had mine performed twice during basic warranty. The third time was done last year (5 yrs/58K miles). My wife called Lexus HQ. Lexus probably looked at the brake service history & with the fact that the front brake pads still had 8mm. So they covered the TSB repair again.
Now the car has 68K still no squealing noise. But it looks like the original rear brake pads need to be replaced soon.

I have the squealing problem too but only happens at cold start... as far as I can tell it only squeals at the first few minutes then after a few brakes it goes away. Any clue what causes this?

I am new to this site and forum. I leased a 2013 GS350 Fsport. At about 3000 miles my breaks began to squeak. I brought in to the dealer and was told there was a problem on some cars and that at this time there is no fix. The engineres in Japan are working on it. I now have 7000 miles on my car. I contacted my dealer and my salesman and got more aggressive about how upset I was driving a sqeaking car. I was contacted by someone at Lexus Corporate and the long and short of it is that there is NO fix for this yet. They said there was no point in putting in new breaks as they would just squeak again. I was told there was nothing they could do for me. There has never been communication from the dealership or from Lexus regarding the defect. Poorly handled from day one. Not the Lexus experience I was expecting.
