Default TripTronic Question.

Hey i wanted to know if anyone else also faces the same problem as i do or it is the same thing for all the 3 GS. So like when im doing like 60 and the shifter is in D it should be in the 6th gear right ? and when i change it to triptronic mode it changes to 4th gear. Is this normal ? Also like if the car is at a full stop and i change it to triptronic mode shouldn't it start of in the first gear automatically? Instead it starts of at 4th gear for everything when im doing good speeds or moving from a full stop in triptronic mode.

Thank you,
1SloGS.

Yes, this is normal. Think of it as a "max gear selector"

I personally only use it to downshift and hold low gears (i.e. holding a lower gear makes it easier to dart through and around traffic --- not recommended for amateur drivers... lol)..

Thankyou for your inputs. I was Skeptical at first because i have an MDX and it selects the gear depending on the speed and adjusts with it so was wondering. Anyway Thank you very much.

Normal for the lex. I believe my old Tl selected it depending on speed but it didnt really matter. The auto tranny did what it wanted anyway. I don't really use this function on cars.

Yea based on my experience it varies sometimes depending on your speed... Because with me sometimes when im at a full stop its starts off at second gear but most of the time its shifts into fourth. Also I tried the IS-F, its starts at first when ure at a full stop. I personally didnt like that, i beleive first gear should be optional and not automated cause when it is in Auto/Sport, when ure slowing down it shifts itself on to first gear which cause it to jump... i didnt like that.

My G37 did that, bump down into first just before you stop, kinda disconcerting. The Lexus is a luxury car after all.
