My 06 GS had the "rattle" upon the first few seonds of start up early last year so I took it to the dealer and they heard the noise and said it was the cam shaft... that it was a known problem and they would repair it under the drivetrain warranty. (I was just approaching 70k back then so I just made it under warranty) Yesterday I started to hear the exact same noise upon start up. Does anyone know if the dealer will warranty their own repair for any length of time? If I take it there and they say they need to repair the same thing they fixed the last time, should I have to pay for that since its been less than a year?? Also, does anyone know if there was a recall pertaining to that issue? I am just curious what to expect.

i don't think there was a recall, but TSB on it. just take it back to the dealership again and tell them you are still hearing the same noise..

Just a follow up to my original post. I had the cam gears replaced on my 06 GS300 in March of 2011 under the drive train warranty. (I had the rattle that alot of people hear upon start up) . The repair lasted exactly 1 year which is how long the warranty lasts on a Lexus part and now they are bad again. Has anyone had a second issue with the cam gears after inital replacement? There was also a TSB on this issue. I have 73k miles on it now. While the cam gears are being replaced for a second time, they are fixing a piston issue and o2 sensors. My car also likes to lock me out of the car while my keys are in it. (the battery is new and lexus can't explain it).

I have had it done, its been over a year and its fine. Maybe just a rare case.
