Default Need help and some suggestions

I found out that my Recirculation in my 3GS is not working so i took it to Lexus and they told me that they would have to replace my air box and my whole glove box and they told me that it was the recirculation door that was not operating properly and also that this wouldn't be covered under warranty so they gave me a quote of 2500 + 5 hours of labor. I need suggestions on how i could fix this problem without taking it to the dealership i also looked for the part and this is what i think controls the recirculation door THE SERVO SUB-ASSY, DAMPER i wanted to know if this is easy to replace.

Thank you,
1SloGS

This is typically done when someone tries to replace the cabin air filter on their own without setting the A/C system to recalculate first. and then they force the little door open.

Unless it was the dealer who replaced the cabin air filter you are going to look long and hard to find any dealer who is going to do this work under warranty.

Well that's what the dealer also told me and the other mistake I made was giving it to a friend who owns a shop where he does ac work for cars. He told me that my ac system was smelling of meldue and even I could smell the meldue so he was like ill take a look and I guess in that process this is what happend and I have been researching about the stuff and I know what part it is that I have to order I just need a confirmation from anyone on here who could tell me if its the right one or not and also how to go about it. The dealership told me the would have to replace the whole airbox and stuff where I see there is no problem at all with the ac or anything else I don't know why the dealership wants to change the whole air box for the recirc part

Sounds like you need to determine how good a friend you have - when you give him the estimate.

I did my own. Hardest part is cleaning all of the junk out of the glove box, 5 minute project tops... But skip that one critical "first" step and you are looking at a $1000-$1200 repair bill... IMO there should be a big yellow warning sticker on the door at the back of the glove box.

There are some threads on this forum from people who have managed to open up the AC box, collect the broken plastic bits, and epoxy them back together, but as I understand it you need to take most of the dash apart to get to it... If you were nervous about a DIY cabin air filter project... a DIY recirculate door activator expoxy fix is probably off of the table.

Thankyou for The link and i will follow your suggestions and when i took it to lexus to check it out they removed and cleaned the stuff up that had fall in there so thats that and epoxying the activator wont help me because the part cracked into 2 parts and some small part from that so i dont think that could be fixable i actually was looking just for the activator but cant find just that so im thinking of buying the whole SERVO SUB-ASSY, DAMPER system so i could replace it. But thank you again for your help!!
