Has your GS with GPS navigation been stolen and never found?

I would think that a car with GPS can be tracked in some way or another. I might be wrong though. Please enlighten me.

The GPS in the car is for positioning on a map. Any type of tracking/locator device will need to transmit its position using cellular or satellite communication. So while the car may know its location, it has no way of sending this info.
