Default Who has had their transmission serviced?

CL Members,

Has anyone had their transmission serviced by a lexus dealer?

My 2006 now has nearly 80k miles on it with most of those being in the heat of hot and sunny Las Vegas. The shifting in my car has seemed to get worse and harsher over the years.

I have asked the dealer many times about having it serviced and they seem to get very strange and tend to want to avoid the topic all together.

I understand that supposedly we have lifetime fluid but that doesn't address the fact that oil does get dirty. In addition the heat in Las Vegas in the summer is brutal in the summer.

My warranty is up in a year so knowing my luck the transmission will go shortly after my warranty expires.

Thanks for your help

I live in Las Vegas too, but if you feel the car is already harsh, doesn't hurt if you insist to do service on it....

how much do they charge? which dealer u go to? Lexus of Las Vegas on Sahara?

Brabus,

I usually go to Sahara since I live on that side of town. Below is the response I got last fall from them.

"On this particular year and model, Lexus changed over to a World
Standard fluid, and it is recommended to be inspected at 100,000 miles.
If it is determined that it needs to be replaced we would do so, and
then it is recommended to be inspected 50,000 miles after that
replacement.

We don't recommend replacing unless needed, as the fluid has a lot of
metal content in it, and if replaced it makes it too slippery and
usually the car won't go into gear.

If you would like to have it inspected at the current mileage you are
at, I would be happy to schedule an appointment for you.

We look forward to serving you. Thank you for choosing Lexus of Las
Vegas!"

did mine at 100k. no problem. I think they are saying it's too early to do such an expensive service.

Had 07GS350 fluid drained & filled at 45K miles. I know it's way too early. But I like to keep a nice clean fluid after 4 years. It's more expensive than conventional drain & fill because a special tool and more labor are required. 5 Qts were used and cost a bit over 200 bucks.

that's not much chuck, considering we spend 100$ on a check-up anyway.

I did the tranny fluid service at 90k miles and I could tell the car shifted a lot better. Toyota dealer can do the service as well.

if there is no dipstick, how do you get the new fluid in the car? I just bought a 2007 GS350 and it pisses me off I cannot do the flush through the cooling lines like my 02 gs300.

I don't recommend DIY on this tranny. Let the dealer do the dirty work and with intensive labor, it's worth $200.
