Default DIY Intake tube replacement

I've been doing alot of reading and became BORED - so i went to PepBoys and looked around for intake pipes - Heres what i came up with.

This is the OLD pipe - why did they use that noise reduction section? NO freaking clue

Still undecided on keeping this pipe because its a hard plastic pipe - changing it to a solid aluminum one... But Its a start - Comments welcome.

A home made intake does not belong on a luxury car, get a knn intake. Is that a dura last gold battery sticking out there?

NOW- question about 2006 is350 & GS300. Would someone happen to know if those intake systems are the same? K&N offers a short ram for 06 is350 but not GS300 "06"

Well Lexus is a Luxury car it may be owned by toyota but I've yet to see a toyota as nicely appointed with leather and real wood. So yes this is luxury! Now to that intake, all I can say is its intresting, how much did you spend on parts and doing it all yourself. Not bashing since everyone has there own method on doing mods, you happend to make your own intake.

Haha everyone in Brooklyn thinks they are bad ***, it's all good. If you didn't happen to know knn intake comes with a heat shield and still gets cold air from the oem ram mount thing. So if anything u re not gonna gain anything but u are also not loosing anything.

They use that noise reduction section because they don't want a lexus being loud. How much louder has the intake sounds gotten with the new piping? And like you said, i'd definitely start taking it to a custom fabrication shop, down here in FL we have shops that do custom tubing/bracing for race cars (i.e. Mazworx) I think shops like this can get you going on the right track in terms of metal piping

Also, I think you might need to find a spot to install that little box looking thing, last I checked those were to collect extra water droplets going towards your throttle body (if it ever comes to that anyways).

you can find tons of threads on here regarding 06 gs300 intakes if you care to do a little research yourself...

concerning your question about the k&n, its no... you won't find any intake system specifically made for our vehicles other than a fujita short ram, or dc sports short ram.. i did all the research myself... i don't think anyone on here has used the dc sports but you can find a lot of info on the fujita. i love mine, and it sounds like a totally different car.. good luck
