Default how to tell if its gen 4 or gen 5

hey guys,

i was considering replacing my gen 4 head unit with a gen 5 one and i was looking on ebay and saw some listed but they always say 2006-2009 and they don't specify if they're gen 4 or 5.

is there any way to tell by looking at either the front or the back which it is?

thanks!

This may not be exact to your answer but the gen 5 started in 2007, and in this thread, it's a comparison between 2007 vs 2008 GS

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...fferences.html

If you read through the post you will notice a few logos removed in the 2008 version, so if the unit match the 2008 version, you can be sure it's a gen 5.

sweet ty.

anyone have any better ideas for sourcing a gen 5 head unit other then ebay? i've been looking on there and not having too much luck.

also i have a tangential question. how come when i do the nav override i can input destinations while in motion but the phonebook and phone settings menus are still grayed out?

that's because you did a nav override and not bluetooth override

can you do the bluetooth override with the same process or is that a whole different procedure?
